Shoe guide
Stability shoes add guidance – a firmer medial post, a wider base, raised sidewalls or a guiding rocker – that limits how far the foot rolls inward. Overpronation is a normal part of many strides, not a diagnosis, but plenty of runners simply feel better supported in one.
Modern stability shoes are far softer and lighter than the rigid posted shoes of a decade ago. Every pick here is a dedicated support shoe.

Most runners do fine in neutral shoes; stability shoes help when support makes running more comfortable, not because pronation is inherently bad.

A running shoe should hold your heel and midfoot securely while leaving a thumb's width of space in front of your longest toe.
